ATLAS
The Black Country Consortium ATLAS (Appreciation & Transformation of our Legacy of Aggregate Sites) interactive map displays a vast amount of data including not only site information on aggregate sites within the Black Country but also Environmental data, data on the Black Country Strategic Priority Areas and also data relating to Transport within the sub-region.
You will see that to the right hand side of the interactive map there is a key displaying a drop-down menu where you can turn the data layer controls for the Aggregate Sites, Environment, Strategic Priority Areas and Transport on and off.
By clicking on the Aggregate Sites drop-down menu, a key will appear displaying 3 colours. The brown signifies historic aggregate sites that are located in the Black Country which have the most data available to research, the yellow signifies all other historic sites located in the Black Country and the red signifies the 2 remaining aggregates sites in the Black Country which are still active. This data has been produced by the Black Country Consortium Ltd and collated from various sources including contributions from the Geodiversity Partnership Group, Dudley Museum, The Black Country Archaeology Service, The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country and EcoRecord.
Clicking on the Environment drop-down menu allows you to see the key for the following data; Nature Conservation Sites, Beacons and Living Landscapes, Canals and Locks, Rivers, Visitor Attractions, Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) for 2007 overall 10% and IMD for 2007 overall 20%.
The Strategic Priorities Areas drop-down allows you to view where in the Black Country the Impact Investment Locations are and where the Strategic Centres and Regeneration Corridors are. To read more information on these strategic priority areas click here to view the Black County Joint Core Strategy.
The final layer Transport allows you to view on the interactive map where the following are; the Black Country Spine Route (planned metro route from Brierley Hill to Wednesbury), the planned Metro route to the 5W's (Wolverhampton, Wednesfield, Willenhall, Walsall and Wednesbury), the existing metro routes, existing and proposed cycle routes, national cycle routes, railways and gateways (routes into and out of the Black Country).
