Matthew Johnson

Employment & Skills Researcher

Matthew joined the Consortium in October 2016 as an Employment and Skills Researcher; supporting the Economic Intelligence Unit with local and regional decision-making on the upskilling of the unemployed, the current workforce and the future workforce.

Previously Matthew worked with the education sector to develop transformational senior leadership in disadvantaged schools. He also has a range of experience in the third sector, consultancy firms and international NGOs, working in areas of policy analysis, monitoring and evaluation and training. Born and bred in the Black Country, Matthew has also worked in Namibia, Tanzania and Sierra Leone largely on youth-focused international development programmes.

He has a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Nottingham and graduated from the University of Brighton in Communities, Engagement and Enterprise.
