Richard Bradford

Opening School Facilities Programme Manager

Richard is leading on the Opening Schools Facilities Programme funded by Sport England.

He has a wealth of experience in the sector, previously working in sports development with Walsall Council; Swim England as Area Swim Manager in London, the South East and the Midlands; Business Manager for Speedo Swim Squads in Dubai; Business Development Manager for Parkwood Leisure and most recently Programme Manager for Aspire Sport & Cultural Trust in Gloucestershire.

As part of the Government School Sport Action Plan, Active Black Country is one of 19 Active Partnerships who have been successful in securing funding from Sport England to deliver the Opening Schools Facilities Programme to widen access for pupils and local communities to participate in physical activity by supporting schools to open their sports facilities outside of the school day.

Richard will be working to ensure the development of a strong and varied offer of sport and physical activity that appeals to young people and communities, meeting local need from within more accessible school facilities. His will focus on the least active and those from less affluent backgrounds and underrepresented groups.
