Local Partnership Lead Officer (Communities)

c. £33,000 p.a dependent on experience

With attractive pension and benefits, a fixed term contract until 31st March 2021 (funding dependent) based at Black Country Consortium Ltd, Brierley Hill, Dudley.

Active Black Country is the Government and Sport England recognised County Sports Partnership (CSP) for the Black Country region providing the strategic leadership for sport and physical activity across the areas of Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

Having successfully secured primary funding for 2018-2021 and established our revised organisational needs, we now want to appoint a team to support the development and implementation of our revised role and strategic direction to help realise our overall vision, mission and objectives.

Reporting to the Active Black Country Director, the position will play a key role in the development of the Sport and Physical Activity strategies for our Communities theme ensuring it aligns with our wider framework and articulates our approach and offer to our partners and stakeholders. The post holder will need to be recognised and utilised as the local expert demonstrating an ability to understand, articulate and evidence the needs, demographics and socio economic composition of the of the Local Authority in which they are based. In addition the role will operate as Line Manager to the Programme Co-ordinator to ensure the effective delivery of the partnership’s education, club and workplace programmes.

You will therefore need to identify with our core values and meet our skills competencies which focus on:-

• Passion for the power of sport as an enabling tool and increasing participation in sport and physical activity in the Black Country.

• Knowledge and experience of partnership working and operating through an enabling approach to develop collaborative agendas which drive sport and physical activity initiatives.

• Knowledge and a thorough understanding of relevant Government, national, regional and local policies, frameworks, funding mechanisms and approaches, along with best practices which influence the development of sport and physical activity agendas.

• Ability to lead and manage individuals effectively contributing to the development of a fit for purpose organisational team.

• A firm understanding and connection to the Black Country as a place with an ability and willingness to undertake travel around our local authority networks.
