Marketing and Communications Officer

£20,000 to £25,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

This is a 12 month, Fixed-Term Contract role, with benefits (including: pension, free parking, flexi-time scheme, generous annual leave entitlement and numerous discounts at the local shopping centre).

The Black Country Consortium (BCC) Ltd works collaboratively with partners from the Public and Private Sector, to steer and support economic growth in the Black Country. We work closely with the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) to tackle barriers to business growth and the Active Black Country (ABC) partnership team in promoting the role sport can play in improving the economic prosperity of the area.

This role will support the Marketing and Communications Manager to promote the Black Country as a sub-region across the themes of: Business, People and Place on the development and delivery of MarComms strategies, working closely with BCC's Marketing and Public Relations consultants (as appropriate) in promoting the Black Country brand and provide administrative/project management support across the Company (as required).

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Work with Project Leads to design, develop and evaluate MarComms campaigns for programmes; to include the development of case studies in order to promote good practice.
  • Develop and produce marketing material, with external agencies (as required), the Marketing and Communications Manager and Head of the Black Country Growth Hub.
  • Support the delivery and maintenance of internal and external communications strategies.
  • As part of BCC's Marketing Team, co-ordinate and deliver events across all themes.
  • Assist with PR activity and develop key messages.
  • Develop, enhance, maintain, analyse, and manage the digital marketing presence for BCC Ltd across all themes including: all LEP and other BCC Ltd social media platforms.
  • Develop, enhance, maintain, analyse, and manage the digital marketing presence for the Black Country Growth Hub website, social media channels and newsletter, Black Country websites and e-marketing campaigns.
  • Upload information to the HVM (High Value Manufacturing) City website and promote with successful companies.
  • Maintain databases (as required), including updating the Black Country Growth Hub's events calendar on a weekly basis.
  • Report on the budgeting of funds allocated to MarComms activity.
  • Develop an appropriate media marketing presence for BCC Ltd and work corporately to ensure consistent delivery.
  • Collate, analyse and evaluate media coverage.
  • Represent BCC Ltd at relevant local, sub-regional, West Midlands and National meetings relevant to work areas, as directed by the Marketing and Communications Manager and Black Country LEP Marketing and Communications Group.
  • Support the introduction, management and maintenance of the Customer Relations Management System in order to manage relations with BCC Ltd partners.
  • Identify new web based developments that enhance the Marketing and Communication plans.
  • Undertake relevant research, as required.
  • Collate information for the monthly Black Country LEP Board updates (and for any other Boards, as requested).
  • Manage and enhance BCC Ltd's website e-portal, ensuring the website supports the key messages from the Marketing and Communication Strategy.
  • Be an advocate of the Black Country.
